拜倫是偉大的詩人，又是偉大的革命家。他那些雷奔電激、波翻云涌的詩篇，在他生前便震撼了整個歐洲大陸，他死后一百多年來仍在全世界傳誦不衰。他也是我喜歡的詩人之一。
《悼瑪格麗特表姐》是現存的拜倫詩歌中最早的一首，1802年作者14歲時所作。據《拜倫日記》，瑪格麗特·帕克是作者的表姐，大約比作者大一歲，生前與作者感情甚篤。作者最早的一首詩(作于1800年，已失傳)就是為她而作的。約在她14或巧歲時，因不慎跌傷，On the Death of Maret Parker,Cousin to the Author
